About
Great storytelling requires an ear for nuance and an eye for rhythm.
I’m a Chicago-based editor who is passionate about telling vivid and compelling stories through the medium of documentary films. My work has been broadcast on the premier PBS documentary series POV and American Masters, which aired throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa, and were shown theatrically as well as at national and international film festivals. I’ve edited across genres—and across subject areas, focusing on political, historical, cultural, and social issues. Whether the footage is cinema vérité, historical, interview-based, or a bit of everything, I bring a fresh, creative eye to visually powerful and emotionally resonate narratives. Nothing pleases me more than when a film sparks conversations among seemingly disparate audiences.
I began my editing career as an assistant editor on Kartemquin Film’s award-winning Hoop Dreams. Prior to that, I was an assistant producer on the groundbreaking PBS series The 90s, produced by Tom Weinberg and Joel Cohen. The 90s showcased the work of independent producers from around the world and was an early broadcaster of small format footage (Hi8!), bringing alternative media to a traditional audience for the first time.
In addition to my feature documentary work, I’ve edited numerous marketing and program videos for nonprofit clients such as the University of Chicago, Opportunity International, Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, the Joyce Awards, the Chicago Boys & Girls Club, the Girl Scouts of America, American Jewish World Service, Merit School of Music, and Pearson Achievement Solutions.
I have also taught editing at Columbia College Chicago and served on the curating committee for the Women in the Director’s Chair film festival.
